How I beat Chessmaster

I beat Chessmaster once. Only once in all my life!

We played a classic Roman opening. I knew the book, he of course knew the book, the beginning went all by the book.

Then exchanges began. I had to think about 6 half-moves in advance only to be sure I didnt fuck up anything badly. Oh I sweated while thinking! So we exchanged all pieces except for 4 pawns each.

And here's the interesting part. I ended up with 2 pawns on each side of the board, and his 4 pawns were all in the center lines. Well, the book says that center pawns are more advantageous, he thought he has a positional advantage and gladly exchanged all of the other pieces.

As my king was guarding his pawns in the center, I began to move the pawns at the very edges. Obviously, he couldnt catch both of them having the king as the only piece besides his pawns, so one of my pawns got promoted.

All the rest was pretty endgame routine and he was defeated. Cheers!
